64 ½ Mustang in beautiful rare original condition. This rare car has a build date of 04-23-1964, just 2 weeks after they went on sale. (Official introduction, April 17, 1964.) The 260-V8 engine runs great, as does all other aspects of the vehicle. The 3 speed Cruise-O Matic auto-transmission is also excellent. This car is in beautiful condition. It has not been frame-off restored because it doesn’t need it. (Most cars are frame-off restored because they are rust buckets.) Inside is in like new condition. This is one of the estimated 5% of the older Mustangs that is unchanged, complete and original. It still has the Eaton power steering pump, single chamber master cylinder, generator, large horn, original working radio, and the list goes on and on. ALL WORK PERFECTLY. The outside color is the original Wimbleton white with the factory installed black vinyl top. The inside is black with the original center console. Prior to listing it for sale, the transmission gasket was replaced, the horn rebuilt, muffler installed, the carburetor (Autolite 2100) was rebuilt, as was the Eaton power steering pump, the gas tank replaced, and the power steering arm was rebuilt. Qualified mechanics did the work. Most cars considered original have various chrome parts installed, special wheels or other items that make them not truly original. Any parts replaced on this car were correct for very early ‘64 models. The previous owner had the car for 15 years and drove it 5, 000 miles. I have owned it about 7 years and driven it less than a 100. All of those 22 years it was garaged. The mileage is a very low 98, 884 actual. It has not been around a time or two as with most older cars. The original owner was Beverly Byerly of Byerly Ford in Louisville, KY. (I believe the daughter of the dealership’s owner in 1964.) This fine car could be driven regularly and/or entered in car shows. This classic Mustang can be seen at my home, which is in Indiana near the bridges to downtown Louisville, KY. An appointment is necessary. Included are some extra items. The original owner’s manual (to Beverly Byerly) is included, an extra 64 ½ right door with regulator, an extra trunk mat and spare tire cover, a full car cover as in picture, original jack, books & repair manuals and numerous small items, including “Original Mustang 1964½-1966†by Colin Date, the ultimate authority on early Mustangs.
